Can I save this?

I am making a top down raglan cardigan and I thought I’d measured for the raglan seams correctly but the farther along I get on the sweater, the more I’m realizing that the underarms are too deep. Is there any way to fix it (maybe by sewing the underarms – only about 1-1/2 too deep) without frogging it? Or am I destined to bang my head against the wall and frog it all?

Thanks

Have you tried it on? I made a top down raglan earlier this year and it looked huge until I tried it on. I think my raglan depth was about 14 inches or so.

The depth really determines the chest width, too, so give it a try.

Good luck!

There is a similar thread HERE that might help.

Yes, I have tried it on. On a regular raglan pullover that depth is fine, but on the cardigan it just sorta hangs. There’s a picture of most of my progress on my blog http://twiggyann.myblogsite.com/blog/Knitting

My big problem is that I don’t have a chest to fill it out. laugh

Well, it’s just beautiful! Maybe you can bring back those batwing sweaters from the 80’s.

It could always become a gift for a deserving person. One Christmas gift already done!

Kemp,

I’m just now seeing this. You and I were typing at the same time yesterday. That other thread did help. I had completely stopped working on this sweater until I knew that I wasn’t going to have to rip it all out.

Thanks.

Twiggy… your site isn’t loading for me. WAAAHHH!! I didn’t know you had a knitting blog. :frowning:

Some folks have problems with the blog and others don’t. I don’t understand what the problem is. WAAAAAHHHH

It’s brand new though, so you’re not missing much.
