Can I use k 1 tbl instead of k1b and get the same results?

sometimes when a pattern says k1b, they mean k1tbl. If you think that’s the case, then yes. It will give you a twisted stitch.

Usually however, k1b means to knit the stitch below the one on the left needle (video in Abbreviations Explained section).
