Can I fix this stitch? What did I do wrong?

Hello again! Still working on the baby blanket, and just noticed another boo-boo (:doh:). I don’t think it’s a big deal if I don’t fix it, but wanted to get your feedback as to what I did wrong here, and if there’s a quick fix for it. I’m working on the basketweave pattern, and right now I’m facing the purl side. The messed-up stitch looks like this.

and the back side of that, which would be the knit, looks like this.

How the heck did that happen? Almost looks like I missed a row or something on that particular stitch, if that even makes sense.

On a good note, I’m just about 50% done with the blanket! :woot:

It looks from the knit side like that stitch extends over more than one row. On the purl side you can see the yarn skipping by the stitch. I think you just missed working the stitch. You could work to the column that the st is in and then drop the st in the current row off the needle and let it ladder down to the mistake, fix the error and then pick up the ladder to the current row.
Or you could leave it. If you decide to leave it, practice this kind of mistake on a swatch, so that you’re more comfortable repairing it the next time it happens.

Yeah, I think I’m just going to leave it, because it’s not too noticeable, and the thought of fixing a stitch all those rows down scares the pants off me. Lol. But I’ll def have to make a swatch where I can practice fixing these mistakes on. That’s a great idea, thanks!

I wouldn’t worry about that. It’s hardly visible. If this is a gift and the giftee inspects it that closely and tells you there’s a mistake I say she doesn’t deserve hand knits. Every hand knit has some little mistake. Call it your signature or personalization. :lol:
