I have a bunch of older skeins of Patons Aran-Style Pure Wool that says clearly on the skein band that it is OILED. The band looks oiled too. 
All of this yarn is the natural aran color. I want to make my husband a sweater out of it, but this color is not a favorite of either of us. Can I dye it? Have you done it? And do you have any suggestions about type of dye or methods? I am totally new at dyeing. Thanks!
You will want to soak the wool in detergent and hot water before you dye it. Dyes will not penetrate the oil
