Can i change to different colors knitting on circulars?

I’m trying to make a blanket for my husband and i am using 2 strands of yarn on a 29 inch circular 17" knitting needle. Can i change colors? I usually see in pictures a solid color and i was wondering since i am still new at this if this is going to be a much bigger project if i do switch colors…problem is i already bought the yarns…yikes!!! oh well…if anyone out there can help i would truly appreciate your guidance. Thanks in advance. Melodie

Sure, you can change colors! Just start working with the new color yarn wherever you want it to go. When you’re ready to go back to the other color, switch back. The first stitch will be loose since the yarn won’t be anchored to anything, but it will tighten when you knit the next row. Weaving in the ends will fix any leftover looseness.

Of course you can switch colors. Just attach a new color the way you would a new ball of yarn in your current color.

Just be aware that if you have purl stitches on the right side of your work, both colors will show in those stitches. If you want a smooth transition, do the color change on a knit row, if possible. Some people don’t mind the two-color purl bump. It’s a pet peeve of mine, so if you don’t care, forget what I said. :teehee:
