Can blocking help to shrink a garment?

I have just finished my 2nd sweater. But, it’s a bit too
big. Can blocking reduce the size? It is a wool cashmere
blend. I have never blocked anything before.

There are a couple thing to take into consideration:

1.If you sweater has some well distinguished stitch pattern be careful with blocking. Hold iron at some distance from the sweater and don’t touch it.

  1. Blocking is okey with pure wool, but if it has synthetic fiber in it , be three times more careful. It is better to try it on the stitch swatch first.

  2. And the main question about decreasing size. I am afraid it won’t help. It could happen if your sweater was made of cotton yarn.

Thank you. I had a feeling it would not help,
but…!

Don’t be upset.
It is only new experience. Try to keep all kinds of information (type of yarn, stitch pattern, number of hook or needles, number of stitches and rows, and so on) in some kind of diary while you are not very experienced. It will save your time in future.

For your consolation: you made your second sweater already. Not every one can boast this kind of achievement. Everything will be fine. Just don’t stop. :yay:

Thank you. Don’t worry, I am hooked for life!
