Can anyone suggest an alternative yarn?

Hi there,

I’m new to knitting and I want to knit a little evening bag as a present for my friend’s birthday. I have found a pattern that uses Crystal Palace Soiree Yarn but I can’t get hold of any - I think it is discontinued. The description of this yarn says that it is highly metallic and suggests a gauge of 5-5.5sts/inch on Size 6 (4.25mm) needles.

Is anyone able to advise a suitable alternative that I could use? :??

Patons Brilliant may be a decent sub. It’s not as glittery as the bag in the picture, but I think it would still do it justice. There’s a good choice of colours, and it’s a very easy and forgiving yarn to work with.
