Can anyone recommend a good website?

I have FINALLY learned to read crochet patterns (for the most part). I watched tjw1963’s videos on YouTube and read along with her patterns at the same time. It really helped me! I have been able to make several little things lately and even purchased my first pattern book. I still get confused, depending on the author, but I know you ladies and gents are here to help! Thank you so much for all the advice and support!:woot:

melmac51, I have never seen anything like the symbol crochet! That is pretty nifty. I followed the link Jack posted and I think that is awsome! Where do you find patterns written like that?

I’ve heard that Symbol Crochet is common in Japanese Pattern books. I’ve also seen it used in doily patterns. A quick search with Google for crochet symbol magazines found one link for Russian Crochet Magazine at the Crochetville.org site. It noted, “There are no written directions, only symbol crochet, and really quite easy to figure…”

I also found a program called SymblCro.exe developed by New Hampshire Software, Inc. (link www.nhswinc.com ) It is for drawing and designing your own radial (in-the-round) patterns.

I used to see them in “Crochet Fantasy” magazine, and also “Magic Crochet”. I’m not sure if they still do it that way, but I inherited a huge stash of them from my grandmother. (Unfortunately, I lost them in a flood years ago) It does help to see what you’re making.
