Being a beginner I have no idea what the second part of this means starting with ‘rows inc 1st st…’ Help!
Can you give us the name of your pattern, the designer, and which size you are making? Then we could give you a row-by-row description of what to do. And for your own use, go through the pattern and mark ALL of the directions that apply to your size. Circle with a pencil, use a highlighter, whatever works. That way, you’re less-likely to read the wrong instruction.
Basically, what that says is for whichver size you’re doing (I’ll use two different sizes for an example):
“Work 36 rows, increasing at each end of Row 3 and every 11th following row.”
So the increases are on Row 3, 14, 25, and 36. This results in having 32 total stitches.
For the 2nd size, increases are every 9th row, for 39 rows:
So the increases are on Row 3, 12, 21, 30, and 39, for a total of 36 stitches.
The pattern may or may not tell you what type of increases to use, but we can help with that when we know what you’re making.
Thankyou I understand now that it’s an increase- it’s a chunky knit cardigan
I’m doing the second largest sizeSo to my calculations I’m increasing on rows 3,10,17,24,31,38 and 45 if I’ve worked it out correctly!
Thanks for your time x
You’ve got it.
