Calorimety-slip st purl/knitwise?

Hello,

I am knitting the calorimetry headband and am at the third row where I am to sl 1 stitch.

This is short row work?

Am I supposed to slip the stitches knitwise or purlwise?

unless specified, I slip as if to purl unless it’s an ssk

IIRC, I also slipped it purlwise. I tried it both ways and I liked the look of it better.
