Calling all Knitty Gritty lovers! (More KG ASAP Campaign)

Hey all,

Below is a repost from Vickie Howell, our beloved host. Please read, contact DIY, and spread the word! I can’t bear the thought of another entire year of repeats!!! Help please!

Hey guys! I think I may have mentioned that DIY is thinking about holding all 39 of the new episodes we shot last year until fall 2006, because of some big ratings craft push that theyre doing. This is cool, because it means that theyre proud of Knitty Gritty but it sucks for many reasons, including the fact that viewers would have to suffer through an entire year of re-runs (not to mention that I also wouldnt have a job this year.) I really feel like I owe it to the guests who came on to the show to promote their respective projects, to work on getting their episodes to air sooner rather than later. I know all to well that timing is everything, and that some designers were counting on the publicity from the show to in part, help spread the word about their books, projects, products, etc. Sooo, I have a favor to ask. Im trying to get people to e-mail the network and let them know how eagerly theyre awaiting new episodes, perhaps mentioning that it seems like all thats been on lately are re-runs. Ya know, say some flattering things about the show, or maybe how youre following all of my projects or whatever. Even if you dont actually get the show, ummm, perhapsyou couldpretend differently for the purposes of what Ive deemed the More K.G., A.S.A.P Campaign (feel free to chant the phrase if you like. ;-))? For some reason Knitty Gritty isnt listed (I spoke to the tech department and theyre getting that fixed), so just choose other in the dropdown menu.

:shock: Woah, I sure hope the network changes their mind on this!! That would mean the episode I shot wouldn’t air until 2007! I had to pay to fly myself out there, it would be a real let down if they waited another year to air it!

Thanks for all the emails to them folks, it means a lot to all of us, to viewers and to folks like me who’ve been on the show, and want to promote their stuff in a timely manner, like Vickie said!

Nicole, you can still email them, by the time the next season starts, you may be watching them! :wink:

Amy, so glad you found this. I meant to PM you to make sure you got to read it since you would most certainly have interest in it! I have been quite impatiently waiting to see you on TV and know I can’t wait until 2007!

Everyone, you ROCK! I want to take this moment to say that I first had internet back a zillion years ago when the only real choice was Prodigy and there was no such thing as chat or the world wide web. There were bulletin boards, though, much like forums. That being said, I have been online for approximately farumphfahum years and in that time, this is just the friendliest, coolest, and most active and supportive forum I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of! You are all the BEST. tear :heart: you all.

Just keep spreading the word and for those of you who haven’t, e-mail DIY. Our voices count and I believe we can get our KG back!

I seriously doubt it… a lot of the independent channels can’t be bothered doing the stuff they need in order to be able to be broadcast into Canada. Even those that do, often have a Canadian version that is often so different from the US version that you wouldn’t know it’s supposed to be the same thing if it wasn’t for the name. Discovery Channel Canada doesn’t offer half the programs the US counterpart does, and the ones they do are often a year or more behind. My favourite show, American Chopper, is at a minimum 8 months {more often a year} behind the episodes shown in the US. The CRTC is so strict, that we don’t even get all the Super Bowl commercials… you know the ones that companies pay zillions of dollars to produce and pay air time for… are not seen north of the 49th parallel unless you have a bootlegged satellite dish.
