Calculating yarn wo a label? Nepal Recycled Silk

I want to make the bag below with that recycled silk from Nepal. I just bought a big ball of it at a store for $12 but I just noticed the label doesn’t list the yardage.

It’s big and heavy as heck but only one ball. Here’s the pattern at Knitty.com. How can I tell how much is there? Weigh the ball? at the post office or something??? :think:

Hm… nobody know how? Looks like I might have to go down to Seaport Yarn, andrea has a scale and I saw her weigh yarn before…

have you gone to yarndex.com to see if that yarn is listed? It might show the yeild for it as well.
