Calculate yardage

OK, so I found this great pattern for a hat that instructs you to “create your own varigated yarn with scraps” only I don’t have scraps. The pattern doesn’t give any yardage requirement, only gauge and finished measurements. Can I calculate yardage so I can buy some yarn without severely overbuying? :thinking:

I think you’d have to buy one ball of each color you want to incorporate since a hat doesn’t use all that much in the first place.

After the hat, you’ll have plenty of scraps. :wink:
