Cable: sl 3 to cn, hold in back, k2, p last st on cn, k2 from cn
Does this mean - from the cn- I turn the cn around to p1 and then k2 (keeping the cn ‘twisted’)?
Thanks much

You don’t have to twist the cable needle. The stitch to be purled is the one on the left end of the cable needle. After you k2, slip the leftmost stitch on the cn to the left hand needle, purl it, then slip the two remaining sts on the cable needle to the left hand needle and k2.
If the order of the sts as they appear on the left hand needle before you work the cable is 5-4-3-2-1 then you will knit them in the order 2-1-3-5-4
