Cable Rib Socks for Dad

I finished these in March but am quite proud of them! I managed to line up the pattern really well. Pattern is Cable Rib Socks from the Interweave Favorite Sock Book. The yarn is Opal Hedwig.

Ooh, very nice socks! You did a wonderful job of matching the pattern. Love the yarn - very masculine looking.

You sure did a great job of aligning the colorway of the yarn! Yesssss! These are a great pair of socks!!!

Those are really great socks!
I had back surgery 2 years ago and every time I had a follow up appointment I’d have my knitting with me, usually knitting socks. My surgeon always commented on what I was doing and I often wondered if it would be appropriate to knit him a pair of socks as a sort of “thank you” for giving me my life back…until the surgery I could barely stand for more than 10 minutes at a time. He’s a young guy and wore some pretty “out there” suits so I thought I’d knit him a pair of “out there” socks. I think he’d probably wear them if I made them for him. I kind of casually looked at his feet to see what size he would need…should I?

My late mother always said one should never give a gift of clothing that one would feel uncomfortable or are not entitled to remove from them yourself!!! (eg. G-string to your boss) I think socks would be OK in your situation, you could put a little note with them thanking him and explaining the significance of the socks.

you deserve to be proud, those look perfect.

GORGEOUS!!! Love the way that yarn works up!!

gorgeous !

That’s self striping? Gorgeous!!!

Just gorgeous! Fantastics job on those! You dad will love those!

You gotta love that self-striping yarn!!!:muah:

Those look awesome!

Great socks!

My father need a pair of socks like this.

Dad is 84 and has quite swollen ankles. If he buys socks he immed gets a pair of scissors and cuts a gash in the ribbing so it is not too tight! Hand knitted are much better for him.

Lovely daughter, fortunate father!
Those socks are gorgeus.
Congratulations.
a kiss,
Dolly
