Hi!
I have never knitted a cable pattern before. The blanket pattern says to cast on 132 stitches, but the cable panel is only worked over 24 stitches. I’m confused, because that means I would repeat the cable pattern 5.5 times to work over the entire row (which just doesn’t seem right to me). There are 5 cable sections and the extra stitches go between the cables. Pretty blanket!
Oh ok! So I would put two stitches before the first cable and two after each cable (for a total of twelve stitches, which would bring me up to the 132 stitches)? Do you know if they are supposed to be knit stitches? or purl?
Here’s the beginning of the pattern -
Cast on 132 sts. Do not join. Working back
and forth across needle in rows, proceed
as follows:
1st row: (RS). K26. (P2. K24) 3 times. P2.
K26.
2nd row: K2. (P24. K2) 5 times.
Rep last 2 rows 3 times more.
You’ll be purling the stitches in between on the front and knitting them in the back. Once you finish this section you’ll start cabling. It’ll make sense once you start working on it. Just follow the pattern. Using markers might be helpful.
