Hi everyone! I’m new here. I’ve been knitting for a few years but I’ve never really done anything too advanced. Recently, I started knitting an adorable cabled sweaterdress that has one large cable in the middle and two on either side. I’ve knit some cabled scarves before so I have some experience with it. The problem is that the large cable in the middle seems to appear on the wrong side, but the other cables are fine.
Is there a reason why this is happening? I already started over once before because I thought that I was reading the chart incorrectly, but it’s happening again. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
No, unfortunately the pattern isn’t online. I got it from the latest issue of Knit 1 magazine. I’m pretty sure that I’m following the pattern because it uses the same stitches to make the smaller cables so I don’t understand why it isn’t working on the larger cable.
Hmmm-- I’m looking at the photo and the pattern, and this should work fine. Try taking some yarn and spare needles and make a swatch of that center cable. How much have you done?-- the cable is more intricate so maybe the more you do the more it will make sense? The other thought is that make sure all the stitches for that center cable are knitted, not purled, and when you hold stitches to the back or front, all you’re doing is crossing in the other direction. Do you have a digital camera, can you post a photo of what you’ve done so far?
