I want to start on a vest from Knitscene Fall 07 issue. The only thing confusing me is at the bust area " knit next row, dec 1 st at center of each cable".
The pattern does not tell how to decrease so I’m assuming I can k2tog, but where is the “center” of the cable. All of this is new so help is appreciated.
Here is where the cable is coming from in the pattern:
row5 p1, k2, p2, 2/2rc, *p2, k2, p2, 2/2rc: rep from *
thank you
I would do a k2tog using the 2 center stitches of the cable - the cable being 4 stitches wide.
Is it the Two Over Two vest? I looked it up at Ralvery and it looks like people did the decrease 1 - 2 rows after a cable crossing.
Hiya ktek,
You see that part where it say’s 2/2rc (meaning 2sts cross UNDER 2 sts) that would be a total of 4 stitches, right? So, you would decrease or knit together stitches 2 and 3 of those 4 stitches. Leaving you with stitches 1,then the 1 remaining from the decrease and then the last st or st 4
Kinda like this: 1^4
I think Mirl is right. Don’t do the dec on the crossing row, but on a row between two crossing rows. That’s what is meant by the `center of each cable’
