Cable help please!

I’m doing a cable dish cloth, and its my first time trying to work cables. My pattern says:
K2, P1, C4B, P1, YO K4, (K2tog)x2, K4, YO K1, YO K4, (K2tog)x2, K4,P1, C4F, P1 YO K2

My question is, do I purl the cables since the stitch before and after is purled? So confused lol

you knit the cables not purl them

The purl stitches on each side of the knit cable helps to set them off.
