The Mission at San Juan Capistrano is a nice trip. Last Mother’s Day we took the train up. It drops you right by the Mission. The gardens are beautiful there too.
Glad you are enjoying the :sun: . It was a beautiful weekend.
Anyone know of a cheap (we’re not talking Motel 6, but cheaper than the Hyatt) Hotel in San Diego? My parents and I may head down there for the weekend. I’m going to give them the choice of what they’d like to do, and though we could drive down maybe Friday night & stay, then enjoy Saturday there. Only problem…hotel on a Friday night. :??
And of course, then some lovely ideas in San Diego! (Besides the Zoo & Sea World)
You guys are the BEST!
Here’s a few things to do somewhat locally and of course there are plenty more.
Bower’s Museum in Santa Ana
Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach
Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana
Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach
Downtown Disney It’s by Disneyland, but not in it so it’s free to walk around the stores and restaurants. Weekends usually have some music on the walkway.
DH said the waterfront adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center is cool. It has an old sailing ship and exhibits.
A lot of the hotels have online deals. My favorite hotel there is the Hotel Del Coronado, which is normally a little expensive. But if you check their site online, they have some good weekend deals.
Thanks for all your help!
I’m going to send an email to my parents hopefully this afternoon with all ideas and have them choose.
My boyfriend is thinking of Catalina for a day too. Or the Wild Animal Park. I guess we’ll just see.
Thanks for all the ideas. I appreicate it!
Of course, I’ll letcha know what we end up doing.
eta- Checked out the Discovery Center. Bubble Fest is going on! :blooby:
Check out this picture. I had to laugh. The one little boy doesn’t look too thrilled:

Here are a couple more ideas in San Diego.
Balboa Park for museums, theaters and gardens. A must visit, if you come to San Diego.
Birch Aquarium great aquarium, with beautiful views of La Jolla.
Also, I agree with Hotel Del Coronado. (I was married there!)
I’d love to go to the Hotel Del, only…well, not really with my parents! :teehee:
I may check out Balboa too! Thanks
I just have to quick tell someone that my boyfriend, is simply wonderful. He’s been helping me with ideas (along with you guys) for things to do with my parents while they are here. This morning, in my email, I wake up to see that he booked reservations @ the San Diego Marriott Marina. (I saw that and almost started to :crying: ) He also has an intinerary for us. Pretty much down to the day & what would be good suggestions. Have I mentioned that I love this man?
(He also was the one who started me on knitting…with a birthday gift of yarn, needles, and lessons)
I know everyone says this about their guy—I couldn’t be more blessed to have someone like him.
Alright, that’s my little “I love my man” plug :teehee:
Also in exciting news, I bought myself yarn for my first ever Booga Bag! :happydance:
Just wanted to say to everyone…enjoy your weekend. And Carmen, enjoy SPRING BREAK :woot:

:waving:
:waving: :teehee:
How was everyone’s weekend?
I’m in the san bernardino area if anyone else is
I’m still open to a meet up. Carmen, Jan, Dink. Laura??? Anyone else?
I was going to ask if anyone had any further thoughts on meeting sometime. I’m game.
Thursdays are no good since that’s my knitting class, and I work the typical 8-5 gig. Weekends are hit and miss, but if something is set up, I’ll be there for sure.
I signed up for the knitters group over at http://knitting.meetup.com/
There’s actually a group in my town, which, if I get enough courage, I might attend. But, I thought I’d toss out the website, considering most of us are close, but still “far” from each other too. Something might just be a little more local.
However, I’d still like to see if we can’t get something once a month going.
Wow we are an active bunch :passedout:
:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:
:poke: :hiding: :poke:
Anyone around Laguna Hills? I’m old and kinda crippled so I can’t drive as far as Palm Springs or San Diego. My age and condition, I consider that a long way. :waving:
