Good evening. Really stuck here, such a simple task. It is buttonholes.
It’s for an 18 months old child. I have done the buttonholes, but they are too small. I have tried all ways of spacing my rows out but getting nowhere. If I could tell someone the amount of stitches I have etc, I was hoping someone could help. Thank you
What is the name of your pattern?
How are you making the buttonholes or what methods have you tried?
Awww thank you. It’s Bambino 9760 V neck cardigan
I have tried casting off 2 stitches, then next row casting on 2 stitches, but can’t seem to get them evenly places
Have you tried knitting up to the gap, then casting on two sts there?
Here’s a very nice buttonhole which is slightly more involved but works out beautifully.
Yeah looked at that, but it’s the spacing I can’t get right. I either end up with too many buttonholes, or end up with a space at the bottom. Perhaps I should have been better at maths, haha
I get to the last 49 stitches, and it’s a case of spacing them out, but making the hole bigger by casting off 2 stitches instead of one. Don’t want the holes too close together as the buttons are quite big
Maybe this can help:
Thank you, will give that a go. Have a good day, and will let you know how I get on.
Have always done things like this when sewing, but never gave it a thought with knitting…duh.
Hi, just wanted to say a big thank you to salmonmac for help with buttonholes. It worked out perfect, and I have now finished the item x
Fantastic! I’m sure it will be darling on the baby.
We’d love to see a photo of the finished cardigan.
Most certainly. I will take one x
Hope that came through ok x
Beautiful! The little cardi is so sweet and the buttons are just right.
All thanks to you salmonmac, thank you for your help x
