I’ve been felting purses for Christmas gifts. I’m embellishing some with a button for a closure. Can I simply cut a buttonhole without it raveling or fraying? Or is it necessary to bind it in some way? Thanks from a newbie (both to knitting and to posting).
Hi,
Depending on how felted it is you should be fine just cutting a slot without it unravelling. There are lots of patterns for christmas decorations, cat toys etc that require you to fult a square and then cut out a shape, so it is certainly possible.
If it is only lightly or loosely felted, o if you are just unsure, then there is nothring wrond with putting a few stitches around the edge first.
