Buttonhole on a baby bib

I am making a simple baby bib.

The pattern is located here: http://knitlist.com/2003/babybib.htm

I am confused by the buttonhole part (especially the bold):

Buttonhole row: Knit two stitches, yarn over, knit two together, knit one
Knit until 3 ridges show after buttonhole (5 rows)
Repeat buttonhole row
Knit until 3 ridges show after buttonhole (5 rows)
Repeat buttonhole row
Knit until 3 ridges show after buttonhole (5 rows)
Bind off remaining stitches

I can yarn over and knit two together (thanks to the helpful videos!) but don’t understand. I could try and follow buttonhole instructions on another site but I want to lern to follow patterns.

Could anyone help with this?

I’m making that bib right now as well.

What it means is to knit several rows after the button hole row. You’re working in garter stitch so the rows looks like a bump on the right side. So I would guess you’d do the button-hole row, knit 3 or 4 rows and repeat. Basically you’re putting in 3 different button holes so that you can adjust the neckline of the bib to accomadate (sp) a growing babe.

Ahhh three different buttonholes. That wasn’t clear in the picture and would have been great in a description. Now it makes sense. I don’t entirely undertand the term ridges, but I know what to do now.

Thanks so much Jennifer! Hope your bib turns out fantastic!
