Buttonhole in pattern question

After just making a simple scarf I decided to try a baby sweater and now I am in way over my head.
Please help!
The instructions say as follows:

Cast on 116, Rows 1-3 knit - so far so good

Buttonhole
Row 4 - for girls, k to last 3 sts, yo, k2tog, k1. For boys, k1, yo, k2tog, k to end (I am doing it for a boy and did that)
Eyelet Rows - Row 5 - k4; (yo, k2tog) accross to last 4 sts, k4
Row 6 - k6; (yo, p2tog) accross to last 4 sts, k4

Rows 4-6 are all under the heading of Buttonhole so here are my questions:

  1. How do I do rows 5 and 6 - am I supposed to do these yo, k2tog (or p2tog) throughout almost the whole row? Is there a difference for boys and girls?
  2. Later when it says add a buttonhole on rows 24,44,and after 19 rows (on left band for boys), do I repeat all 3 rows?

Does the sweater have areas where there are eyelets all around the sweater? That’s what this pattern in having you do.

The buttonhole row has you do one eyelet for the buttonhole and then knit to end.

The next section, eyelet rows are rows 5 and 6 and add a decorative stitch all around the sweater.

As for the other buttonholes, only do the eyelet rows if it says so. Even though they are near each other in the pattern, they seem to me to be two different sets of directions.

Thanks so much - I guess it was a little unclear but from looking at the picture there is an eyelet round and it is only once so I guess in the future I will only do row 4 as a bottonhole round.
