Buttonhole in Brioche Stitch

I am very new to knitting, and I am making a very simple wrap-around scarf for my short hair dog. I wanted to use the Brioche stitch, but I am unsure of how to incorporate a buttonhole in the pattern. In theory, would it be as easy as a typical buttonhole, and if so when I am recasting the stitches after adding my buttonhole, how do I continue the pattern?
Thanks in advance!
Kate

You could probably interrupt the pattern with a yarn over, k2tog for the buttonhole. Then pick up the pattern on the next row.
How are you working the brioche stitch?

ETA: In thinking about this, you might consider using a button loop instead of a buttonhole. The loop could be made with a simple chain stitch and you wouldn’t have to interrupt the pattern at all.
