Buttonhole band confusion

Hi my patterns is as follows rib 2( cast off 2 stitches ( 1 stitch left on needle), rib 11, cast off 2 sts, rib 12) 3 times, cast off 2 sts, rib 2.
I have 94 stitches in my row and can’t make this fit.
The second row is rib to end casting on 2 stitches over each gap.
I take it that rib is the 2 stitches either knit or purl not 2 sets of rib i.e 4 stitches? Either way there is not enough pattern for all off my stitches.
Thanks

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
The cast off is going to take 3 sts to cast off 2sts (rib 2, pass stitch over, rib 1, pass stitch over). That’s 2sts cast off but 3 sts worked. You’ll have one stitch leftover on the right hand needle. Don’t count it as you go on to knit either 11 or 12sts or whatever the next number of sts is.
If you count the 2sts cast off as 3sts (bolded below), the stitch count works.
2+(3+11+3+12)x3 +3+2=94
Some patterns warn you about the stitch left on the right hand needle but others don’t.

Thankyou, it seems obvious once you explain it. This is the first cardigan I have tried . Pattern is Elspeth cardigan by West Yorkshire spinners.

Lovely!

You’re doing well with this first cardigan. May there be many more.
