The measurements sound like they’re for a very loose fitting sweater. It depends how you like your sweaters to fit - snug, just right or loose. If it’s a cardigan, you want it a bit looser than you would for a pullover. Easiest is to measure a sweater you like the fit of and is similar to a pattern, then use that measurement to determine which size to make.
hmm, but if I did that, I would be picking the first one and that says the bust size is 33-34!!!
Why do they make this so difficult? I’m afraid of getting it wrong and spending all the money for the yarn and if I need more, then there is the dye-lots etc. I suppose I could ask the LYs to set aside some in case I need more…
Thank you for your help, I’m sure your right, it’s just so confusing
Thanks Pauline…Yikes, I’m so confused but, hmmm, if I go with what Sue said, closest to bust size, which is 39… that would be the end number of option B and you say B…I’m going with B Thank you!
This is way out of my league, as I’ve never even knitted a sweater, but Knitting Daily had a great series on bust size and negative ease and such just recently. I skimmed through it, but since I’ve not made a sweater yet, it was still a bit over my head.
I tend to get lost trying to search around on that site, but try starting here.
But how do you want the sweater to fit? Tight or loose? If these examples are for an actual pattern, they indicate that it’s supposed to be a loose fit. If the sweater you measured isn’t the same style, then that’s the wrong sweater to measure. Which pattern is it?
