Bust size vs. finished measurement

I’m planning to make long cardigan (using TLC’s Cotton Plus) and have option to go either 6" or 10" of ease in bust. Pattern has virtually no overlap (buttons using knit loops). I own a variety of ready-made sweaters that run the gamut from somewhat fitted to very loose and all fit fine for their design. Don’t want the one I’m making to look sloppy, nor too snug. I’m in SoCal where this will be used like lightweight jacket when out and about so am leaning towards the 6". Your thoughts?

TIA,

When I decide on what size to make a sweater, I generally measure one that I like the fit of and go for those measurements as close as I can.

Ya what Ingrid said! If you were in a cold climate I might suggest the larger size just so you can layer your clothes - but go with what actually feels comfortable to you!
