Bunching in circular knitting

I am knitting a poncho on a circular needle. The pattern requires using 4 different colors. I see in some of the pattern a "bunching effect. Can anyone tell me if this can be fixed, or do I have to rip it out and knit on a larger needle, or looser? The needle size is 10.5 and the yarn I am using is wool, mostly Lopi.

Thanks!

Are you stranding the yarn? (Fair Isle) If so then you need to make sure that you are stranding loosely. It will bunch up if you don’t. Do you have a link to the pattern?

Hi Jan
I am using a pattern from a Lopi book. Am stranding and have been trying to keep it loose. Thanks for the response…

There is a simple technique for preventing puckering and bunching when you do stranded colorwork.

Every time finish you with one color, spread out the stitches you just knitted onto the right needle before you start the new color. This automatically provides exactly the right amount of yarn for a neat float that’s neither too loose nor too tight. It’s a pain to remember at first, but after a couple of rows or rounds it becomes second nature.
