Broken yarn at bind off

Help! I’m a new knitter and I just broke the yarn at the bind off site before I could weave it in. What can I do?

Can you tighten up a couple of your BO sts (pull them by hand) to give you another inch or so? I use a crochet hool to pull the tail through the other sts, so I don’t need as much length as peope who use a darning needle. If you have 2-3" you can try a hook or use a smaller knitting needle to work them through the other sts.

There is a bind off that uses no yarn. I remembered this fact and did a search for it and found info on it here on the Knitting Harlot’s blog. LINK

It is the second thing on the page–Crochet Bind Off. She says it works great in your situation. You will need to take out the whole bind off row I suppose and do it over this way. Check it out.

But that crochet BO comes out really really tight. When I do one like that I plan ahead and work the last row of knitting with a needle about 4 sizes larger.

That is sheer genius! I will use that hint. Thank you so much!
