I have bound off my project as per instructions. Now I have to pick up 180 stitches. I know how to pick up stitches but because all my stitches are new how do I connect the beginning of my yarn. How does my new yarn secure to my old. Am I explaining this right? I know what I want to say, but it doesn’t sound right coming out.

It’s the same as starting a new skein in regular stitching. I know what you mean about having it secured though, so what I usually do is weave in the end a bit, not properly or anything (unless you want to) but just so it’s ‘anchored’. That really helps me and gives it some hold for those first 2 or 3 sts you pick up.
I always knit the beginning end in with the first three or four stitches . That works best for me. I
