Its in between the holidays and my birthday, which was on the 20th of this month, so I decided to buy myself a brand spankin’ new set of circs.
I bought the deluxe set of dreamz circs off of Amazon (I have a Prime account there). I can’t wait till they get here and I can tear into the package and get started with them!! :woohoo:
I’m making this one…#13 needles, chunky yarn, and seed stitch. The pattern is Gap-tastic cowl and can be found on Ravelry or AllFreeKnitting or just google and you’ll find it.
I’m curious. When I buy needles from Knit Picks or WEBS directly, if there is a problem they will send out replacement pieces with no problem, any questions they ask are after the replacement has already been ordered and I assume they want to know what the problem was for their records. I ordered my Nova set through KH and if I had a problem I know that Amy and Sheldon would help out. I don’t know that on my Nova set I’d go directly to WEBS. What would you do if there were a problem? How are things like this handled when you buy through Amazon?
I’ve returned things through Amazon, but for a replacement part (not needles) I had to go through the store it actually came from who told me to go to the supplier. So it wasn’t straight forward.
Take these for instance… They are actually sold through ToysNGamesEtc and fulfilled by Amazon. If a part is messed up you’d have to go to the ToysNGamesEtc store, file a complaint (or whatever) and more than likely they’d direct you to the main supplier since they probably sell just the whole sets.
Earlier this year I contacted our wholesaler regarding the warranty procedure, and officially Knitter’s Pride handles warranty claims (broken needles, cables, etc.). From what I was told you need to send the broken item to them. Personally, I’m not too keen on this. It puts too much burden on customer. Denise Needles, another brand we carry, will do replacements without such hassle. I think this is great and helps to build a strong brand and the way it should be.
Amy and I have decided to take on the burden and we extend a 1-year KH warranty for needles we sell. For people who order needles from our shop, we will replace any needles/cables that are received broken or breaks during normal use due to defect within the first year. After that, you can contact us and we’ll try to help you out as best as we can. We can usually order a replacement needle, but if we can’t you may have to go through the manufacturer for replacement. Most people discover any defects rather quickly and contact us within the first few months if they have a problem.
I’d expect most 3rd party amazon sellers to defer warranty replacement to the manufacturer. But we feel strongly in going the extra mile to ensure those who buy needles sets from our shop are happy and can keep on knitting and not to wait weeks for a replacement. So that’s how we roll.
Well, my set arrived. It looks great! I am drooling over the smoothness of the needles and the join. Also drooling over the cords that are so flexible one can do a magic loop, yet they aren’t twisting on themselves like the Takumi Clover fixed ones I have.
ETA: I do understand that buying from this site helps to support the forum, so I think I’ll be purchasing from it in the future instead of Amazon. I’ve heard about how Amazon is kind of putting small stores, and even some large ones, out of business.
As I’ve encountered absolutely ZERO PROBLEMS with my Nova needles purchased here, I don’t expect to ever have to take you up on this. Maybe it’s already been a year since I got them, I’m not sure. I was and am very confident in doing business with you and Amy. I still remember that there was a hand written thank you with my needles, something I’ve not seen from anywhere else. You’re knitters, not just retailers.
