Both socks at the same time?

I’m starting to knit (I have a hat going now), and I would like to do a pair of socks next. Now, I know socks are generally done with dp needles (I think I know, anyway). However, at school recently, I saw a girl knitting socks on a circular set. Socks, plural; as in she was knitting them both at the same time. I’d like to try it, seeing as how I have the circ. needles already, but I just can’t wrap my head around how she’s doing it. Is anyone familiar with this technique?

Don’t forget the Magic Loop method! It allows you to knit 2 socks at once using a looooooong circular needle. There’s a video to show you how to do it on this site. Go to the videos page, click Advanced Techniques and look for Magic Loop. I use it all the time now for socks!
