I am trying to pick up an old project from 10-15 years ago for a cardigan sweater. I am going along fine and then at the end of the first row pattern row after the ribbing for sleeve it says 1 border st. What does this mean and how is it done?
Border stitch
They probably mean the same thing as a selvedge stitch, which is just a knit stitch at the beginning and end of something that’s there to facilitate seaming.
When I started my project I completed the Left front and now I am doing the right front and it says, work same as left front, reversing shapings. What does this mean? Such as the first thing I need to do is when the work measures 6 3/4 inches shape pocket opening? Then I make the pocket and I can do this fine, but then it says when work measures 14 1/2 inches shape neck. On every 4th row at neck edge, bid off 13 times, then on every 6th row at neck edge bind of 1 st 4 times. At the same time I am to shape the raglan armhole. How do I do switch these?
When directions call for you to reverse shapings, it just means to shape the second side the way you did the front. It’s reversed because the arm and neck openings are on different sides of the piece of knitting. If you think in terms of neck edge and arm edge rather that beginning of row and end of row, it makes it easier to envision.
