Bobble help! Can't decipher this pattern

Hello everyone. I think the last time I posted here was 3 years ago! But I’m doing something new - bobbles - and am really stumped by this pattern. It’s the Hachisu Tam from dyod*studio, that I got from KnitPicks. Basically, although the bobble increases by 4, I can never get it to decrease by 4, and am always left with 2 extra stitches. Unless some patterns do this on purpose? I just don’t want to proceed with the whole hat if I’m going to mess it all up.

Anyhow, the bobble is defined as:

into next st (k1, yo, k1, yo, k1), turn, p, turn, k, turn, p, turn, sl 2t kw, k1, sl st fr R to L ndl, sl 2nd and 3rd sts over 1st st, sl to R ndl.

So… first part is easy enough… increase by 4 stitches, knit 3 “rows” of stockinette, then I’m slipping 2 stitches knitwise onto the right needle (no decrease yet), knitting one stitch (still no decrease), moving the stitch I just knit back on the left needle (still no decrease), passing the second and third stitches on the left needle over the first stitch on that needle (decreasing by two), and slipping that stitch from the left needle to the right (still no decrease.)

It seems like there is a psso missing or something. What am I doing wrong? Is it me, or is there errata in the pattern?

Thanks!!!

I think you have it exactly. You could change it to:
Into next st (k1, yo, k1, yo, k1), turn, p, turn, k, turn, p, turn, sl 2sts kw, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over the k1 on the right needle, sl st fr R to L ndl, sl 2nd and 3rd sts over 1st st, sl to R ndl
Good luck with the rest of the bobbles!

Thanks! I was actually just putting my 11mo old to sleep, and while sitting there rocking him in the dark had a similar Eureka! - this fix would also be symmetrical to the decrease on the other side of the bobble.

(That tam is for my grandmother, who is turning 90 this month. She taught me to knit 25 years ago.)

Oh, perfect!. I love those “Aha!” moments. That’s a very thoughtful gift.
