Blue Sky Alpaca Eyelet Baby Blanket

I’m working on this blanket right now and was reading through the pattern again last night. It’s straightforward until the ruffle. You cast on 96 stitches for the blanket itself and then it tells you to pick up 97 stitches on the cast one edge for the ruffle. Does that sound correct? Then, I’m estimating that the blanket will be about 115 rows vertically but it says to only pick up 89 stitches on the vertical edge. Does that seem right? Should I just trust the pattern?

I appreciate anyone’s help on this. If you can’t tell I’m pretty new to this! :oo:

The beauty of this is that you can pick up as many stitches as you think you’ll need along that vertial edge! It would make sense to me that you would pick up 1 stitch for every 1 row, so you very well may end up with 115 stitches OTN. You may have a few less to account for picking up on the corners. The ruffle will hide any uneven pickups.
