I’m swatching to make these fingerless gloves. So when I finish the swatch, I’m assuming I need to block it, but how much do I stretch it? Knitting it, the knit columns obscure the purl columns. I’m confused as to how to measure it to get my gauge. Help!! LOL
Usually the direction is to measure the gauge over the swatch, slightly stretched. It’s up to you to decide how much stretch that involves. What kind of yarn are you using? Wool is going to have better memory for the amount of stretch which of course will affect how tightly the gloves fit.
I made them & didn’t even block them. They stretch a LOT on their own, so if you do block it, I wouldn’t stretch it too much.
That is, if you used a loose & stretchy cast on.
I’m not sure what kind of yarn it is, it was given to me. Most of the yarn that came with it was acrylic, so I’m assuming it is too, but I can’t swear to it.
Thank for the help!
