Blocking question

I have to block a lace scarf that I made with Noro Silk Garden Lite which has silk, kidhair, and lamb’s wool. The washing instructions say “dry clean”. Anyone can give me an idea how to block this thing? Do I fully immerse? Do I pin and spray? Do I pin and iron with steam?

Help! I don’t want to ruin it! :ick:

Experiment on your swatch.

I would tend to favor the gentlest treatment: pin it to out, spray it lightly, let it dry.

Here’s how I do my lace blocking:

-Soak it in warm water and rinse free wool wash. I use Kookabura.

-Stretch it alot to open up the holes and pin it out. You might want to use blocking wires, those help a great deal for lace.

-Let it dry. Lace usually takes about a day to dry.

Unpin, and it’s ready to wear!

While a great method for blocking lace, I’m not so sure about it for dry clean only lace.

I definitely wouldn’t do the full immersion soak. Perhaps lightly spraying it or gently steaming it is your best bet. And like knitasha said, try it out on a swatch if you have one. In my experience, it’s the silk that’s going to react the most adversely to the liquid.

Ok, I’ll try that tonight. Thanks to all of you who responded!!!
