Blocking CHEAP Yarn

I just got done with a bikini I made for my step-mom’s mannequin, “Roxanne”. I made this out of really cheap yarn from Wal-mart. It is called Mainstays. I would think it is the same as RED HEART.
The yarn is 100% acrylic and 4-ply worsted weight yarn. The bikini panties are curling around the top. My questions is: Would blocking help stop the curling? I have heard some people say you can not block such cheap yarn. I only used this kind of yarn because the mannequin shouldn’t be able to feel it lol plus I wanted to use what I had laying around the house.

Also, what kind of blocking do you suggest that I do?

I read somewhere to saftty pin it onto a towel and lay a wet towel over it all night. Would that work? Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!! :cheering:

It’s not the cheapness of the yarn, its the fact that it’s acrylic. You can try laying it under a wet towel to see if it will flatten out, and it certainly won’t get much wear and tear, considering the model. If it doesn’t work, you can pick up and knit around the edge–maybe garter or seed stitch. that will stifle the curling.
