Blocking Advice for Newbie?

The only things I’ve blocked are dog sweaters :D…and I’m almost done with my shawl…I’ve heard you need special pins for blocking?!? Is that true? I didn’t use pins for the dog sweaters, just layed them down really flat on the counter, and it was acrylic, not wool.

I use pins when something has to be blocked to a certain measurement, like sweater pieces. If I’m blocking just to even out stiches, I don’t always use them.

This really is a good site! I HATE blocking…and my stuff has been coming out scalloped, but I’m going to use these tips in the future. Who knows, my washcloths might actually turn out square! :teehee:
