But I think I’ve made the error in not blocking my squares I didn’t think I would need to block until I anything until it was all done. But…I’ve seamed like about 14 of them, and at first i thought it looked dodgy but after seaming in the rest it looked ok.
Now here’s my question…should i seam in the rest? Or should i block the rest of the squares before i seam them on with the others
I attached the pic on my facebookpage so please take a look and tell me what you think.
Think i’m going to knit a border on this blanket to give it a nice finishing touch too…
It looks like you’ve seamed the first horizontal row and some of the second. You could finish the second row, then seam the other squares into horizontal strips, 9 blocks across. You’ll have 7 of these strips. Now block the 7 strips and the 2 strips that are already seamed. Once dry, you can seam across the rows and it’ll be neater and easier than working with individual blocks.
I like the idea of the border. It’s going to be such a pretty blanket.
Salmon mac you’re awfully helpful (i meant that in a good way)
Thank you. That sounds a lot better than blocking them all individually. So does it look bad though, I mean right now? I suppose the border will neaten the top part up slightly.
I only seamed the second row in so I could see if it was really that bad lol
Far from looking bad, it’s going to be lovely! Beautiful colors and pattern of squares, I think you’re making a very pretty blanket that will be much loved.
Congratulations, you’re almost finished.
Well I certainly do LOVE the colors of your blocks! It’s really going to be spectacular! I think you’re on the right track. Seaming them, then adding the border (a must), then blocking the entire blanket. Did you say what kind of yarn you’re using? Wool? Acrylic?
If you’re using acrylic, you can wash and dry the blanket and I’ve read that people use that for blocking acrylic sweaters.
That’ll work, too. I was thinkng that blocking the strips might make the seaming easier but it may be six of one, a half dozen …
I don’t think you’ll go wrong either way.
oh yarn is acrylic. that info might have helped eh? lol. Dont talk to me about seaming lol. im already scared this might fall apart. I think Im doing OK but still I have this feeling that it will fall apart lol. Hope not!
