Working a great baby blanket pattern-but need help w/ the edges. The pattern says to knit the last stitch of every row, I’m just not happy w/ the way they look-although they sides themselves are even and straight, the individual stitches look sloppy. I tried Sl1 purlwise the first and last stitches of each row, but that leaves a knotted look to that stitch-I was hoping to have the edge look more like an integrated part of the fabric. Any ideas? thanks!
You can get a slipped st edging if you slip the first stitch of the row and knit the last stitch of every row. I’m not sure what pattern st you’re using on the blanket, but that gives you a rather smooth, neat edge.
I don’t like slipping the sts they come out looser and messier for me. What I do is knit or purl the first stitch, pull the yarn a little, then do the next couple a little tighter. Neat and even edges.
