I’m pretty new to knitting and am currently knitting slippers. I know how to bind off an entire row, but the instructions say to bind off 9 stitches, there are 40 sts in all. What happens to the tenth st that is now on the right needle?
After you bind off the 9 stitches, that stitch left on your needle is just one of the rest of the stitches. It’s included in the total count of the stitches that are remaining.
To bind off in purl, you do it the same way, but instead of knitting the stitch and putting the previous one over, you purl them.
Hey Jenna, when I started knitting, I thought the same question about the stitch left on the needle when the whole project wasn’t bound off. Hope you are having fun with your knitting! Make sure you post your work so we can see it!
