I’m at the binding off stage of Barb’s Koigu Ruffle scarf and not sure what type of bind off to use. The pattern suggested a cable cast on which worked really well.
I tried a stretchy one but it flattened the ruffles out too much.
I’m thinking the standard, regular bind off will be too stiff but haven’t actually tried it yet.
Sorry I’m not very tech savvy and haven’t been able to figure out how to link to a pattern on Ravelry to this site.
Barb’s Koigu Ruffle Your link, I think.
Knitted Lace Bind Off Check this BO. I think someone else used it on a ruffle recently but I can’t locate the thread right now to be sure.
Yes, that bind off is a good idea. Claireweber used it on a beautiful shawl.

It’s certainly a loose bind off meant to compensate for gaps in the lace. I bet a loose bind off, maybe using a needle 2 sizes larger would work too.
Not sure if it makes a difference or not, but the scarf is done all in stockinette so it’s not a loose knit. The ruffle part is done on size 5 needles using the fingerling weight yarn.
I’m sorry, I meant to mention this before. If you just copy the URL of the page you want to link to from the address bar then past it in the box where you type your post you’ll get a link to that page.
I used the bind off GG referred to on my ruffle and I liked it a lot. I frequently will bind off with a needle a few sizes larger, but it really didn’t work with the yarn I was using, which was a fingering weight yarn.
You can always try binding off for a few inches in the bind off of your choice, and if it doesn’t seem to work, then try another. I did a small swatch and tested bind offs on it.
I tried Jennys surprisingly stretchy bind off and though I only did a small section it seemed to flatten the ruffle out compared to the other side at the same spot.
I will give the lace one a try though this scarf is only done in stockinette so it isn’t really very loose.
I’m also going to try just the regular old standard way and see what it looks like.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
