Binding off at neck edge on wrong side

Good morning! I am an intermediate/advanced knitter but can’t figure out the following instructions for binding off at neck edge:

“Bind off center front 21 stitches. Work remaining 75 stitches. TURN WORK AND STARTING WITH A WS ROW OVER THE NEXT TWO ROWS AND AT EACH NECK EDGE BO 3 STITCHES”

I am interpreting this as : Bind off center 21 stitches on RS, turn and bind off 3 stitches at each neck edge on WS then 3 stitches at each neck edge on right side.
This would to me constitute “over the next two rows”

Problem is when turn to WS and I attempt to bind off at edge I am left with 2 bound off stitches to the right, one stitch on needle then the 21 cast off prom previous row. How to I avoid that one lowly stitch being left? Am I misinterpreting these simple but confusing directions and I should only cast off on RS so i should really 4 rows should be worked not 2?

Thanks
Heather

Hi Heather, it usually says to ’ work each side separately’ or ’ join in another ball of yarn and work both neck decreases at the same time’ but I can see the problem if you work to the center, cast off the 21, work the 75 sts to the end of the row turn and work back to the neck edge - you cannot cast off 3 sts from the ws here! It doesn’t work! You would need to cast off from the front here!
What instruction follows on from this, are you to work each side separately ?
I would turn from the ws, cast off 3, work to the end of the row, work the ws, turn and cast off the second lot of 3 sts then fully complete this side of the front and work the other side to match.

Hi Linda! Thanks!
I am working both the front and the back simultaneously, but the work is split. The pattern in “Black and White” by Big Spring Knits. To complicate, its a striped sweater so I’m using now 6 skeins at one time! ; (because of neck shaping and the need to stay in pattern) So what I’ve done is turn work to wrong side. Purled to first ( right hand side) neck edge. Left work and gone over to the left side and bound off three at neck edge. I will turn work to right side and knit to first neck edge. Then pick up right side neck edge and bind off 3. So every row has a bind off but not on both sides.
Hope I got this right! Thanks for help
