Binding off and putting stiches on holders

the pettern says bind of 29 stitches, place 6 stitches on holder, bind of 29 stitches.

I assumed that i would just be slipping the stitches onto the holder, but then i realised that if i did that then when i came to bind off the next 29 stitches, the working yarn would be 6 stitches behind.

whats the best way of doing this?

BO 29, knit 6 sts, put them on the holder, then BO the other 29.

Most times, you put stitches on holders after you work them. Whatever logistics make sense. :wink:
