bind off question

My pattern for a shawl says to bind off as follows:

Knit 2 sts, insert left needle from left to right into the front of the stitches just worked and knit these sts together through the back loops. One stitch remains on the right needle.

If I have inserted my left needle into the front of the stitches how do I knit them thru the back loops???

I don’t know if this is exactly what they’re saying but this is knitting 2 together through the back loop.
