Bind off pattern inquiry

Please review the attachment near the ending of the front panel where it states to bind off at neck edge.

Q: the directions read: bind off at right side of every alternating row. does this mean

row 1 pearl
row 2 alternating row in which the bind off will take place?
row 3 pearl
row 4 alternating row in which the bind off will take place?

Q: the directions read: bo3 sts once bo 2sts three times bo 1 st three times and bo 1st once on the following 4th row - is this correct:

row 1 pearl
row 2 bo 3 sts (1 bo action out of 1 accomplished with 0 remaining)2sts (1bo action out of 3 accomplished 2bo actions remaining and to be accomplished on row 4?) 1 st (1bo action accomplished out of 3 with 2bo actions remaining and to be accomplished on row 4?) Is the total no. of sts bo is 6 sts?

Q: When the directions state to bo 3 sts do they mean 3 sts together at one time? if so, how is that accomplished? if not what do they mean?
row 3 pearl
row 4 k accomplishing the second set of bo actions?
row 5 p (1st foll row)
row 6 k (2nd foll row)
row 7 p (3rd foll row)
row 8 k (4th foll row) bo 1 st out of 1 action with none remaining.

When they say to bind off, you bind off one at a time. Look at the video under basic techniques if you don’t know how.

What is it you’re making? If your instructions are to bind off on the right side ever alternating row, you will be binding off on the same edge. If you’re working, say, the front of a cardigan, this makes sense. If it’s the back of a sweater, it won’t work.

If the directions are correct, and the bind offs are supposed to be on the same edge:

row 1 purl
row 2 bind off 3 work to end
row 3 purl
row 4 bind off 2 work to end
row 5 and all odd rows purl
row 6 bind off 2
row 8 bind off 2
row 10 BO 1
row 12 BO 1
row 14 BO 1
row 16 knit
row 18 BO 1
