Best Type of Needle to Use with Cotton/Rayon Ribbon?

Hello All!

I’m getting ready to knit a shawl using Blue Heron Cotton Rayon Ribbon. And I’m wanting to invest in a good set of circular needles - so I’m wondering what material of needle will work best on cotton/rayon ribbon yarn - regular aluminum, bamboo, or other??

Thank you!!!
Amy

I love Addi Turbos for everything. Do a search on Addis and you will see I am not alone.
But in general I use wood/ bamboo if my yarn is slick. Metal or Plastic if my yarn is fuzzy or “toothy”.

Take a bit of your yarn with you the the lys and loop it over some of your choices. You will be able to tell if the material will work with your yarn or not.

I would go for the addi turbos too. You will have enough drag on your needles with the width of the ribbon yarn, and you want something that will allow the yarn to move smoothly.

Once you go addi you never go back, baby.

Thank you both for your informative replies!! I’ve seen many many posts praising the Addis Turbos, so I’ve GOT to get a set! …going to eBay right now to buy some… :happydance:

Thanks again!
Amy
