Hi there … I’m about to assemble a stockinette sweater that I’ve been working on (and off) for a YEAR!! What is the best stitch to use for sewing it together … I’m FORCING myself to finish this project!!

Mattress stitch. There’s a vid (Tips>Finishing) if you need to see how it’s done.

Mattress for the sides and up the arms. That ones pretty much set in stone as the best.
I like Kitchener for the shoulders but you had to think ahead and plan for it by not binding off the shoulders.
Some like 3 needle bindoff, but again you had to plan ahead.
Otherwise duplicate stitch.
Attaching the arms try and figure out some kind of duplicate stitch that works. It’s like a duplicate on the shoulder and a mattress around the body.
Patch pockets duplicate stitch.
I found a real helpful article at Knitty under techniques with Theresa. It was in the Spring 04 issue/mattress.html. Nice big pics that you can copy.
